Police: Group home worker battered disabled adult resident

ELMHURST – Elmhurst Police reported Tuesday that a worker at an adult group home had been arrested on accusations that the worker had abused a disabled resident.

Lasonya T. Butler, 43, of Chicago, was arrested Jan. 18 at the group home in the 100 block of South Monterey Street in Elmhurst.

A news release from the department stated that Butler was seen on video striking a seated, disabled adult several times. Managers of the group home, which is operated by UCP Seguin, became aware of the video and notified the Elmhurst Police Department.

Butler was arrested at the group home by Elmhurst Police, and the disabled adult was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.

Butler faces one count of aggravated battery.
