To the Editor:
I support Ameya Pawar for governor of Illinois. Pawar would increase funding to public schools, improve access to childcare, fight for a $15 minimum wage, and reform the criminal justice system. Conservatives – even within the Democratic Party – would say Pawar’s progressive platform is impractical and that we can’t pay for it. I say to those willing to put tax cuts for wealthy people and businesses on a figurative credit card: Investments in children and working families are much more necessary for the long-term health and living standard of Illinois residents, so we must find a way. It’s simply a matter of willingness. Let’s invest in our children, their families, and the future for us all.
