ELMHURST – IC Catholic Prep band students Maggie Wisniewski and Casey Kristie, were selected to participate in the annual All-Catholic Honor Band performance Jan. 21. Freshman Maggie Wisniewski was able to attend, playing the trumpet alongside 75 other musicians. Junior Casey Kristie unfortunately was unable to participate.

“It was a phenomenal experience,” Wisniewski said. “The music was pretty complex and challenging, and it was great to be led by a new conductor to get a different perspective. I am so grateful to have been selected to participate.”

The All-Catholic Honor Band, an outreach program sponsored by the VanderCook College of Music, is an annual event intended to give Catholic High School students an opportunity to perform quality repertoire with students ranked at the highest performance level. Advanced Catholic high school band students are selected to attend through director nominations.

Since 2004, VanderCook College of Music has hosted the All-Catholic Honor Band, bringing together the best musicians from Chicagoland’s Catholic high schools. The band rehearsed during the morning and afternoon, and performed in the early evening at IIT Hermann Hall Ballroom in Chicago.
