Students and staff were encouraged to donate $1 to the organization and wear a hat of their choice.

Members of student council planned the fundraiser, had all students watch a video explaining the fundraiser, collected money, and gave stickers to everyone that donated. Heather Bolur is the Student Council Club Sponsor.

According to the Caps for Kids website, children fighting cancer can contact the organization to request a signed cap for their favorite celebrity. Recent celebrities featured on the site include Ellen DeGeneres, the cast of “Duck Dynasty” and musician Bruno Mars.

Caps for Kids says it sends out about 3,000 caps per year, while about 10,000 children are diagnosed with cancer each year.
