ELMHURST – Police say that a body recovered from the quarry at West Avenue and First Street may be that of an Elmhurst resident reported missing last week.

Police officers and fire department personnel were searching the quarry Friday for a missing 24-year-old when they discovered the body of a man in his early 20s, according to a news release from the Elmhurst Police Department. The DuPage County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene, and the body was taken to the coroner’s office in Wheaton.

The cause of death has not yet been not determined, police said.

A family in the 800 block of North Indiana Street reported April 14 that a 24-year-old family member had failed to return home after having left home on a mountain bike earlier that evening, police said.
